Ane Ramarama had made many far-reaching decisions in her life.

One of them was made on Wednesday morning inside her home in the village of Navetau in Saqani, Cakaudrove.

That was when she decided, that for the first time in her adult life, she was going to finally vote.

“I am 49 years old, pushing 50, and I have never voted before. Can you believe that,” she said.

The mother of one said for the first time she felt it was just right to vote in 2022.

“Before, I never really took voting seriously or was just busy working and doing my own thing.

“But after considering what transpired politically over the past few years, I decided that Fiji badly needed change.”

Ms Ramarama said she wanted a change of government.

“I know that change will not happen unless I participate in the elections. I want to be part of change and I will finally do it in 2022. Personally, I want a government that takes care of workers’ rights, union rights and where leaders show love and respect.”

She said she also decided to get involved in elections because members of her extended family were actively involved.
