VILLAGERS of Nawaqadamu in the interior of Nadi yesterday took part in the pre-polling for the 2022 General Election at their community hall.

Nasesevia Secondary School headboy Waisake Nacola and deputy headgirl Jokaveti Ceiwa, both 19, voted for the first time before heading to school.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Nacola said casting his vote was the only way to make their voices heard in Parliament.

“I have voted for a candidate whom I think would provide for the needs and wants of all the Fijian citizens,” Mr Nacola said.

“I am relieved after casting my vote, knowing that the candidate I have voted for would be a good leader in the government.”

He reminded eligible youths that there was no point in criticising any government, if one did not vote.

Ms Ceiwa said she was happy and excited to have voted for the first time. “By voting, I feel I am exercising my democratic rights as a citizen and making my vote count.”
